Continuing Education (CE) Information for Vietnam

Great Minds Abroad in Vietnam- Diane Gilman, PsyD and Ms. Le Viet Ha, MHC

This program offers seven (7) Continuing Education (CE) credit hours for psychologists licensed in the US and Canada, as well as for licensed professional counselors and social workers in the state of Maryland or whose licensing boards accept American Psychological Association (APA) accreditation. For psychiatrists, mental health providers who are licensed in countries outside of the US, or other licensed professionals, please check to make sure your licensing board accepts APA accreditation. These CE credits will also qualify as diversity or cultural requirements if needed for your licensure.


Learning Objectives: 


  1. Describe how eurocentrism influences psychology
  2. Describe barriers to mental health care in Vietnam
  3. Compare mental health access in the United States and Vietnam
  4. Analyze and challenge culturally biased beliefs in mental health
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of mental health statistics in Vietnam
  6. Demonstrate knowledge and cultural sensitivities on how to adapt learnings into work with clients at home, especially with clients of Vietnamese backgrounds
  7. Describe various Indigenous practices for mental and physical health and well-being in Vietnam


Diane Gilman, PsyD is a licensed psychologist based in Bethesda, MD and the owner of Great Minds Abroad. She specializes in chronic pain and illness, as well as mind-body techniques for stress and anxiety. Diane holds a Master of Science degree in General Psychology from Villanova University, as well as a Master of Science degree and Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology. She is also certified as a Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP). 


Ms. Le Viet Ha, MHC is a Mental Health Counselor in Hanoi, Vietnam. She holds a masters degree in health and wellbeing, as well as a masters degree in business. Ms. Le Viet Ha currently works at Therapy Tâm An, where she provides CBT, person-centered, and solution focused brief therapy to adults and adolescents with stress, grief, depression, anxiety, and relational struggles. She also provides coaching for clients on personal health, education and finance goals. Ms. Le Viet Ha has received degrees from Vietnam, Australia, and the UK and brings a wide range of experience to her work from these locations.


  • This program is appropriate for beginning practitioners and no prerequisites are required.
  • This program is co-sponsored by The Maryland Psychological Association Foundation (MPA) and Great Minds Abroad. The Maryland Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. The Maryland Psychological Association maintains responsibility for the program and its content.
